Announcement: Appointment of Editors
The Ghana Law Hub is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Amponsah Asare, and Kalvin A. McQuaye, to its editorial team.
Helen is a dynamic strategic legal professional with experience in private and in-house legal practice. Helen’s mission is to support businesses and stakeholders by delivering innovative, efficient and effective legal solutions. She currently leads the legal and company secretarial functions of the KGL Group of Companies LTD and its subsidiaries.
She possesses a wealth of expertise in corporate and commercial law, mining and natural resources law, corporate governance, intellectual property law, real estate law, among other areas. Helen holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of East London, a Qualifying Certificate as a professional lawyer from the Ghana School of Law, and a postgraduate LLB (Hons) from the University of London. Helen also possesses a first degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and multiple certifications in her field of expertise.
Helen is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, a member of the African Corporate and Government Counsel Forum, the International Bar Association, and the Ghana Bar Association, reflecting her commitment to professional excellence and continuous learning.
Helen is also enthused about sharing her experiences by publishing articles that gives insights into her experience as a lawyer.
Kalvin is a dispute resolution lawyer in a leading firm in the country, and his areas of practice span across torts, public interest, and commercial litigation. He has represented numerous notable clients, including a celebrity in a defamation suit, a human rights activist in divorce proceedings, a housing association in a land dispute, and a former minister facing prosecution.
He obtained his LLB from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Qualifying Certificate in Law from Ghana School of Law.
Passionate about legal writing, public speaking, and football, Kalvin advocates for critical thinking in education and has conducted many talks on topics like plain English for lawyers and contract drafting. Outside his legal career, Kalvin hosts the Law & Whatnot podcast, engages with legal literature, and mentors aspiring footballers, mooters, and debaters. As coach of Aston City FC, Achimota Senior High School Moot Team, and KNUST School Debate Team, Kalvin’s meticulous approach has led to significant achievements, including league victory and national debate championships. His broad expertise and coaching success make him a valuable resource for GLH readers interested. With his adept advocacy skills, Kalvin ensures GLH delivers well-prepared and accessible content to its discerning audience.
